BESPOKE ARCHITECTURE DESIGN SUCCESS DOUBLE FOR CALA

Two bespoke developments by one of the country’s leading developers, CALA Homes, were recognised with a prestigious Homes for Scotland Quality Award at the housebuilding industry body’s annual gathering held at The Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday 9th May.

Briery Meadow, Haddington and Orchard Lane, Dirleton  both in East Lothian, were singled out as the best examples of ‘Designing Places’ this year’s awards focus, which follows the Government's current place-making agenda and applauds high quality homes which form part of well designed and sustainable communities.

Briery Meadow won the top title in the Rural Large category and Orchard Lane was recognised in the Rural Small category. Such has been the response from homebuyers, only two homes are now available, both at pretty Orchard Lane.

The independent judging panel chaired by Scotland’s Chief Planner Jim Mackinnon praised both developments highly noting of Orchard Lane:

"The overall feel is of a new development that blends perfectly and matches the high quality of the existing community. A strong sense of identity has been achieved though investment in quality. The materials, use of landscaping and detailing are outstanding throughout."

Gerry More, Chairman, CALA Homes in Scotland, comments:

“We are delighted that our efforts to design two extraordinary developments with their own identity and sense of place within the greater environment have been recognised in this way. Both Briery Meadow and Orchard Lane reflect the local architectural vernacular and were built using traditional materials and methods. This can be expensive and time intensive but the results are stunning as these awards confirm.”
