CALA launches new home designs

---CALA’s new housetypes show confidence in the market---

June 26 2009

Premium housebuilder CALA has launched a new range of housetypes called the Signature Collection which will be rolled-out across Scotland and demonstrates its commitment to the housing market.

Kinnaird Gardens in Larbert will be the first CALA development in Scotland to feature the new range, which will be available to buy off-plan from late June.

The latest collection features 21 new designs for four, and five-bedroom detached family homes, with each new home named after a traditional Scottish surname.

Prices for the Signature Collection at Kinnaird Gardens start at £250,000 for the charming 1594 sq ft Bryce, a detached four-bedroom home, to £369,000 for the stunning Moncrief, a 2513 sq ft five-bedroom detached home.

Buyers will have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the new collection when three showhomes – the Moncrief, Colville and Crichton – open at Kinnaird Gardens in September.

According to Alastair White, Managing Director of CALA West, the new range demonstrates CALA’s commitment to delivering homes for its customers and shows that CALA is planning for the future.

“The launch of the new Signature Collection is a confident move by CALA, particularly in these testing market conditions, However it perfectly illustrates our commitment to creating homes that our customers want to live in. We have taken buyer feedback into consideration on both the aesthetics of the houses and also the physicality of how they live and move around the home and we’ve incorporated that into the new designs.

“We reviewed the drivers in the Scottish house building market and what they mean for the future of our homes. The Signature Collection has been born out of this process and we are confident buyers will very be impressed.”

CALA architects and product designers held a series of focus groups as part of the design phase which led to CALA integrating the traditional styling, synonymous with the brand, whilst incorporating contemporary interior spaces to suit modern ways of life.

The new range typically features separate formal living and reception areas on the ground floor while, in most cases, offering an open-plan layout in the kitchen and family living area, which has proved highly successful in CALA’s contemporary-themed Capital Collection of homes.

CALA’s high specification kitchens and bathrooms are a key feature of the new range. An integrated “appliance bank” concept in the kitchen grants customers a practical and stylish selection of integrated appliances with a number of upgrade options available, varying the selection of appliances included to suit any lifestyle.

The exterior of the new homes incorporates a “Scottish mix” of stone features as CALA move away from the blonde smooth stone used on previous ranges. Sloping eves have been built into the roof rather than a more typical “box design” to present a more traditional character. Other exterior features include a steel “rafter tie” which will be used in some of the new housetypes or a feature keystone which will be used to add further character to the front of each home.

Linda Peter, Sales and Marketing Director said: “Buying a new home is one of the most emotional purchases people will make especially for families.  As they say home is where the heart is and we are continually striving to build homes that our customers want and which will meet their evolving family needs. We feel the new Signature Collection offers this and more.

“Kinnaird Gardens is an extremely popular development and it makes sense to launch the new housetypes there. Customers can purchase the homes off-plan at Kinnaird from late June. We anticipate the construction of the first release to be complete by November.”

David Fisher of CALA’s New Product Design Unit said: “In terms of the technical innovation of the new designs we have incorporated a number of energy reduction features into the floors, walls and roofs of our houses. We have made practical improvements to a real housing range so CALA buyers can benefit now rather than waiting for homes of the future. Purchasers will benefit from better building envelope insulating capabilities, reducing heat losses and energy consumption.

“We have gone beyond the minimum regulatory levels of carbon dioxide emission reductions required by government regulation.”

Kinnaird Gardens is part of the visionary Kinnaird Village – a new community in Larbert, near Falkirk. The village plan will feature a high street with local shops along with the new two-stream primary school which is already thriving. With plans for natural and landscaped spaces ideal for children to play, and woodland walks, Kinnaird Village offers a wonderful new community for families to grow.

Kinnaird Gardens already features an array of four and five-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses from CALA’s contemporary Capital Collection, a selection of spacious four-bedroom townhouses and is now the first location in Scotland to feature the new Signature Collection of four and five bedroom detached homes.
