CALA HOMES SITE MANAGERS WIN NATIONAL HOUSEBUILDING AWARD

July 23 2009

Two CALA Homes West site managers have scooped awards in the prestigious national house building awards for developments in Glasgow and Larbert.

Robert Lafferty, site manager at CALA’s Kinnaird Gardens development in Larbert and Alister McCallie, site manager at Witchwood in Newton Mearns,

have received National Housebuilding Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job awards.

From over 18,000 site managers across the UK the two CALA West winners were selected and are now in the top 30 in Scotland.

This is the second year running Robert has won the award, last year picking up the accolade for CALA’s Wallacefield development in Robroyston.

Robert, who has over 22 years experience in the building trade and six years with CALA Homes, said: “I am thrilled to have won this award again and it’s wonderful that it’s at Kinnaird Gardens which is such large scale development

“I couldn’t do my job without my team and I have two fantastic assistant site mangers helping me. This award is really all about team work and is a testament to people who are committed to delivering homes of superior quality at Kinnaird Gardens.”

Site Manager, Alister McCallie, has 34 years experience in the building industry with 21 years as a site manager with CALA Homes. This is the first time he has received the award.

Alister who is from Glasgow said: “It’s an honour to pick up this industry recognised award and I am ecstatic, but a large element of it has to do with the effort my team put in.

“Witchwood is a luxury CALA development with just a select number of homes and the team work ensured that extra attention was paid to the quality and standard onsite.”

The Pride in the Job awards sets out to raise standards in new house-building by examining good working practises including health and safety, management skills and the ability to motivate staff to produce the highest quality new homes.

Brian Johnson, CALA Homes West, director of construction, said: “To win a Pride in the Job Award at this level takes an exceptional amount of hard work and commitment, both Robert and Alister are to be applauded for their achievement. It is a fantastic accolade and it is great news for them and the whole construction team at CALA.”

“The fact that we have picked up awards for a second year running goes a long way in showing our consistency and commitment to delivering quality homes for our clients, across all of our developments.”
