Mactaggart & Mickel Press ReleaseMactaggart & Mickel Homes receives planning consent for Drymen developmentJune 3 2010
![]() Family-owned housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has received planning permission for a mixed-use development in Drymen, Stirlingshire. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park’s planning committee has approved plans to develop an area on Stirling Road in Drymen, featuring 36 homes, a 68-space public car park and a community woodland with pedestrian links to the village centre and West Highland Way. After working closely with the National Park and the local community, the proposed development will feature a mixture of social rented, shared equity and private market homes. Of the 36 units, 10 will be available to rent, 14 will offer shared equity options and the remaining 12 houses will be for private sale. The development will also see the size of the existing car park increased to 68 spaces. The surrounding woodland will be sympathetically landscaped to feature new planting, walkways and a play area designed for the local community. Mactaggart & Mickel Homes consulted extensively with the local community prior to submission of the planning application, holding three public events in Drymen and working with the local residents and stakeholders to develop plans which would be suitable for the area. Andrew Mickel, director of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, said: “We are delighted with the decision from the committee and I would like to express my gratitude to the local community for the time and commitment they have invested in working with us to develop the plans for this site. “It will not only provide much-needed affordable housing in the area but will also enhance the offering to visitors and residents alike with increased car parking and development of an attractive community woodland.” For more information on the homes at Drymen, please see www.macmic.co.uk |
