CALA Homes Press Release - January 30, 2012

Record sales success for CALA Homes’ Ratho development

CALA Homes has hit the mark with nearly £13 million worth of sales at its canalside development – The Mooring, Ratho. The record sales were generated in only 12 months, from January 2011 – January 2012.

The demand for high quality family homes in the west of Edinburgh have fuelled success at The Mooring, with 32 homes sold in the past year alone. Only four of the current phase of homes remain available.

Sarah Stanger, Sales and Marketing Director at CALA Homes (East) said: “Our development at The Mooring, Ratho has generated sales at an incredible rate. To sell 32 homes in only 12 months is testament to the stunning location and high quality living on offer at The Mooring.

“Buyers have also been tempted by the leading schools on its doorstep, including Ratho Primary and Balerno High School. As with all CALA developments, the attention to detail is impeccable, with high quality fittings and finishes throughout.”

The development has attracted a wide-range of buyers, including Sheila Graham – a four-time happy CALA home buyer who recently purchased a three bedroom home at The Mooring. After two winters snowed in at her Kelso home, Sheila decided it was time for a move back to Edinburgh, to be near her friends and family who are spread across the central belt and Fife.

When she first visited The Mooring, Ratho, she was captivated by the feeling of being in the country, yet so close to major roads, the airport and the shops of Edinburgh.

Sheila explains: “I was ready to downsize from the four bedroom home in Kelso, and at first considered apartments but decided I didn’t want an open-plan home. I wanted three bedrooms so that one could be an office, as I work from home, and definitely two bathrooms. CALA’s development at Ratho ticked every box.”

As a four-time CALA buyer, Sheila knows that a CALA home comes with excellent customer service as well as impeccable quality of design and finishes. “When dealing with CALA’s sales team, I felt as though they genuinely believed in the quality of the homes they were selling, and their flexible approach makes buying as stress-free as possible.

“As an incentive, I benefited from stamp-duty paid, carpets and garden turf, all of which made the buying process even more positive. My new home at The Mooring was exactly what I was looking for, at the perfect time. I couldn’t be happier with this move.”

Two showhomes are available to view at The Mooring - a Bryce and a Cleland housetype. Both are detached four bedroom family homes, each with two en-suites, a family bathroom and generous kitchen, dining and living areas. The Cleland further benefits from stunning French doors leading from the kitchen to a decking area and rear garden.

The showhome interiors were meticulously created by Carol Yates at Amabile Design, inspired by modern family living with a luxurious twist.

On completion, the west Edinburgh development will boast a stunning canal basin as its centrepiece and a mix of detached, terraced and townhouse properties. Prices start at £270,000.

The Mooring, Ratho sales office and showhomes are open seven days, from 11:30am – 5:30pm. Further information is available by contacting the sales office on 01324 600 280 or by visiting www.calahomes.co.uk.

CALA Homes Press Release - January 25, 2012

Significant Marketing Drive Set To Build on Homes Sales’ Success

CALA Homes is to start the New Year on a confident note with the launch of a high profile national marketing campaign which is set to build on the company’s sales success in 2011.

For the first time ever in Scotland, CALA is to embark on a major TV advertising drive. The 30-second TV advertisement, filmed in one of CALA’s five-bedroom showhomes, is designed to bring the CALA Homes’ brand to life by showcasing the quality of lifestyle the homes can offer. The commercial went live on January 21 on STV across all Scottish regions, with additional spots on the national Good Food channel.

The TV advert is part of CALA’s current marketing campaign “The Time Is Now – Just Ask CALA” which communicates to potential homebuyers that the CALA home they aspire to is achievable. It is supported by increased investment in online media promotion, including the launch of mobile and ‘tablet’ versions of the CALA website, as well as press, radio, outdoor posters and direct mail.

CALA’s National Sales and Marketing Director Sue Parry welcomed the new campaign launch.  “These are exciting times for CALA Homes – across Scotland and the whole of the UK,” she says. “With the launch of our first ever TV advertisement in Scotland and a substantial increase in on-line activity, the new campaign builds on a highly successful year for the company in 2011.

“There is a lot of latent demand out there – and people are just waiting for the right time to move to a CALA home.  And we are saying that the time is now!”

The new marketing campaign is a continuation of the successful ‘Just Ask CALA’ theme, launched in 2011, which helped deliver a 12% annual increase in UK home sales since 1 July 2011.  ‘The Time Is Now’ campaign has been designed to carry the positive sales momentum into the critical new year selling period by injecting a sense of urgency into the sales message. It confirms that CALA is pledging everything in its power to make this dream move possible - including offering a wide range of incentives such as part-exchange, stamp duty and legal fees paid, and assisted deposits*.

CALA begins 2012 with confidence having contracted 20 new sites for future developments last year, mainly for detached family housing. Together, this is forecast to deliver more than 1,000 new homes and generate revenues exceeding £350 million.

CALA also began development on 12 sites which are contributing to the company’s first homes of the New Year. These include the exclusive Trinity Park development in Edinburgh, which will feature a range of Georgian inspired homes on the outskirts of the city’s New Town, and a development of 12 exclusive five and six-bedroom homes in Thortonhall in South Lanarkshire.

In 2011, CALA was ranked highest amongst major UK house-builders for both customer service and health and safety.

New tenants are expected to pick up the keys to their new home around autumn 2012. Work is already well underway on another project for Clyde Valley Housing Association, with 31 two bedroom apartments within Motherwell town centre being handed over in summer 2012.

In Stevenston, Merchant Homes will build 20 two and three-bedroom semi-detached homes on a desirable town centre site, with work commencing in the Spring, while in Nitshill a fantastic development of 49 two and three bedroom semi-detached homes and three bedroom detached homes will also be built.

This Summer will see building work begin in East Kilbride, with five luxury four bedroom detached villas and 14 executive two bedroom apartments.

Launched in 2007, at a time when the housing industry hit tough times, the quality of Merchant Homes’ developments, along with the expertise of its highly experienced team, has ensured the Glasgow-based company continues to thrive.

Mactaggart & Mickel Press Release - January 24, 2012

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes is urging first time buyers who want to step onto the property ladder in 2012 to move quickly.  The relief on Stamp Duty Land Tax for first time buyers on properties under £250,000 is coming to an end on 25 March.  This means that after this date househunters will have to pay 1% of the price of their new home in tax potentially adding as much as £2,500 onto their moving costs.

The savings are perfect for putting towards new home purchases. Whether it’s those essentials we all take for granted when living with parents or to refresh and replace furnishings from a rented property, there’s never a better time to have some extra cash.

The Housebuilder of the Year* also offers a range of assistance packages including My First Home, specially created for first time buyers.  The plan allows buyers to purchase their home for just 85% of the full price with no fixed time limit to repay the remaining 15% share.  This means that they could enjoy lower monthly mortgage payments or afford a bigger home than first thought.

At Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ East Craigs development in Edinburgh, all six remaining two-bedroom apartments are available under the My First Home plan and will be ready for househunters to move in before the March deadline.  The full price of each apartment is £170,895 but with the My First Home plan the price payable is just £145,261 and in addition buyers would not be required to pay the £1,789 stamp duty levy adding up to a substantial saving just when you need it most.

The development is ideally located for those who want to enjoy all the convenience of city living and also includes a small collection of retail units such as a Co-operative supermarket and Lloyds pharmacy for residents’ convenience.

Marr Meadows in the coastal town of Troon and Cherrybank Gardens in the much sought after suburb of Newton Mearns are also perfect for first time buyers.

Beautifully appointed Marr Meadows has breathtaking views and golden beaches nearby.  The two-bedroom Oronsay villas have light and airy lounges and contemporary kitchens while upstairs both bedrooms boast fitted wardrobes.

The development enjoys the perfect blend of coast and commutability, conveniently situated for road, rail and air links with Glasgow city centre easily accessible thanks to the regular direct train services.

Just a handful of two-bedroom apartments remain at Cherrybank Gardens which was so in demand that househunters queued overnight to secure a property when it launched. There are plentiful local amenities and handy transport links mean a quick and convenient journey to Glasgow city centre.

The My First Home Plan is also available on selected plots at Meadow Belles in Mauchline and Campsie Village, nestled at the foot of the picturesque Campsie Hills.

Mactaggart & Mickel Press Release - January 19, 2012

Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts, the contracting arm of the award winning family owned house builder, celebrated the start of 2012 with the official opening ceremony of the development project at Cherrybank, Newton Mearns on Friday (13 January 2012).

A £1.7 million affordable housing development of 15 flats was built on behalf of Link Group and funded by in partnership with the Scottish Government. Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts’ manager Jamie McLean, site managers Colin Thain and John Kelly, and finance director Paul McAninch, were joined by Link Group chief executive, Craig Sanderson, and East Renfrewshire Council’s housing convener, councillor Danny Devlin, to mark the handover of affordable homes.

Commenced in November 2010, Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts worked closely with Link Group, East Renfrewshire Council and the Scottish Government to design and build the 15 affordable properties consisting of two and three bedroom apartments with one flat specifically designed to meet the needs of a wheelchair user.

Concern over housing in the area has been growing over recent years. The council’s 2005 study on housing need and demand highlighted the region as an area of acute housing pressure. With high land prices and low turnover of council properties the project by Link and Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts will provide a much needed supply of affordable homes.

Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts manager Jamie McLean said: “Mactaggart & Mickel Group has been developing land in the Newton Mearns community for a great number of years and our latest contract completion for Link Group demonstrates our commitment to the community’s on-going success.

“We are delighted to work with Link and the local council to deliver high quality affordable housing that will benefit residents for years to come.”

Link Group chief executive, Craig Sanderson, said: “These high quality flats will contribute to alleviating the need for affordable homes in Newton Mearns and we look forward to continuing to work with the local community and East Renfrewshire Council as the development takes shape.”

East Renfrewshire Council’s housing convener, Councillor Danny Devlin, said: “East Renfrewshire has the highest house prices in Scotland and there’s a real danger of people being priced out of the market which has a knock-on effect for our local communities. Making local housing more affordable for local people can only benefit our communities in East Renfrewshire in the short and long term.”

During the project Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts also delivered a new church hall built specifically for the Eastwood Gospel Trust, which is in full use having opened at the end of 2011.

The What House? award win comes hard on the heels of the company’s return to profitability, following the announcement earlier this month (November) of a £2 million profit for the financial year 2010/11.

Sarah Stanger, Sales and Marketing Director for CALA Homes (East), says: “Repeating our success by winning this top award for the second year running shows that CALA Homes continues to set new benchmarks for customer care and for quality products, against a background of excellent financial performance and growing sales.

“I am immensely proud of both our homes and the teams of dedicated people within CALA that have worked together to make such success happen.

CALA’s developments in the East of Scotland range from large, detached family homes to townhouses and apartments at locations including Edinburgh city, Kirkliston, Ratho, Eskbank and Corstorphine.

CALA GROUP REPORTS A RETURN TO PROFIT - November 07, 2011

2011 Results Highlights:

·         Pre-tax profit of £2 million – turnaround from £27 million loss in 2010

·         Turnover increased to £215 million from £172 million in 2010

·         Home sales increased by 45% to 649 compared to 449 in 2010

·         Forward sales at 1 September strong with 50% of homes for new financial year already reserved

CALA Group Limited, one of the UK’s leading premium housebuilders, has reported a pre-tax profit of £2 million following publication of financial results for the year end 30 June 2011.

The results signify a return to profit for CALA Group for the first time since 2007, turning around a £27 million loss reported for the same period in 2010. Turnover increased by 38% to £215.4 million, with net assets increasing by 15% to £32.1 million.

The improvement in financial performance has been principally generated by a 45% increase in home sales over the period to 649, combined with a strong recovery in house sales gross margin to 14.8% before exceptional items.

The company’s consented landbank continues to be strong with just over 3,000 plots with turnover value of £909 million, equivalent to approximately three and a half years’ output on current projections. The period also saw CALA ranked highest among major UK housebuilders for both health and safety and customer service, two areas of specific focus for the business.

Welcoming the publication of the results, Alan Brown, Chief Executive of CALA Group Limited, said: “The Group has delivered an excellent performance across all aspects of the business in 2011.

“The return to profit is a significant achievement for the company, having been delivered during continued uncertain trading conditions. It reflects the renewed focus of our sales strategy and increased investment in the quality of our product supported by firm cost controls.

“Our success is also a fitting testament to the continued commitment and energy of all our teams across the UK. It sets a significant marker about the Group’s future ambitions for further growth, supported by our consented land-bank which remains very strong.

“Being ranked as the best housebuilder in the UK in the two very important areas of customer service and health and safety has also been a major accolade for us, which reinforces CALA’s brand as a premium house-builder, creating homes of the highest quality in excellent locations across the UK.”

In 2011, for the second year in succession, CALA has achieved top rankings for a UK house-builder in the Home Builders Federation (HBF) annual customer satisfaction survey, being awarded the highest ‘five star’ ratings for both quality  and for customer recommendations. And, for the third year running, the Group’s excellent health and safety record was recognised by the HBF, with CALA’s annual injury incidence rate again being the lowest in the industry.

Looking to the future, the Group warned that it expected market conditions in the coming year to remain challenging and uncertain. Alan Brown added: “There are still on-going concerns around mortgage availability and buyer confidence, but we are continuing to make strong progress on sales.

“Forward sales remain strong with 50% of homes planned for the new financial year already reserved, driven by the higher number of active sites in operation and the premium locations in which we are developing.”

In 2011, CALA contracted 20 new sites for future developments, mainly for detached family housing. Together, this is forecast to deliver more than 1,000 new homes and generate revenues exceeding £350 million.

CALA also began development on 12 sites which will contribute to its first homes in the new financial year. These include the exclusive Trinity Park development in Edinburgh, which will feature a range of Georgian inspired homes on the outskirts of the city’s New Town, and Nascot Grange in commuter-friendly Watford, which includes a range of apartments, mews and semi-detached homes.

CALA’s growth has been reflected by an increase in on-site employment numbers during last year. Direct staff numbers across UK sites – including site managers and sales advisors – have increased by more than 20% to 187 compared to 2010. The average number of CALA staff and subcontractors on-site has increased 86% to 1,171.

Alan Brown concluded: “Looking ahead, our strengthened balance sheet will be particularly important in helping us add to our already strong landbank.

“Our land teams around the country continue to take advantage of the best opportunities to acquire land for both short and long term development, and this together with our excellent performance in customer service will undoubtedly help us continue to deliver strong sales, and increase value for our shareholders.

“The Board is confident that the business strategies adopted by the company will further enable us to operate successfully in the market environment we are currently experiencing, and we look forward to the challenge of building on the significant progress we have made this year.”

CALA Homes Press Release - October 19, 2011

-    New Images and Video Fly-Through Revealed Following Successful Sales Launch -

CALA Homes has released the first phase of its much-heralded Trinity Park development, comprising 81 new homes across the six-acre former Trinity Park House site in the north of the city-centre.

Five Georgian inspired four-bedroom villas, providing between 2,198 and 2,342 sq ft of living space, are now available following a successful sales launch which saw over one hundred visitors to the development over the course of the weekend. Prices at Trinity Park start from £775,000.

Trinity Park is set to become one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious city-centre residential developments.  A mix of high quality Georgian inspired villas, mews homes and apartments will be enclosed in the tree-lined development, which historically formed the old walled garden of Trinity Park House.

To mark the launch, a video fly-through illustrating the lifestyle on offer at Trinity Park has been released at www.trinity-park.co.uk.

The plans for the new development reflect a bespoke design which was inspired by the best of Edinburgh’s rich architectural tradition. Sarah Stanger, Sales and Marketing Director, at CALA Homes (East) explains:

“Homebuyers are being offered the chance to buy into a high quality residential development which applies a modern take on the city’s classic Georgian architecture.

“We have taken the best of space and scope of traditional building design, with classic facades and high-proportioned doors and ceilings, and combined it with all the advantages of contemporary living - such as modern kitchens, en-suite bathrooms and open-plan living space.

“To attract more than 100 people to the opening weekend is testament to the staggering level of interest in this development.”

To coincide with the sales launch, CALA has unveiled new images of Trinity Park showing how its inspired layout  reveals just how much care has gone into the presentation of this exclusive collection of Georgian inspired villas, mews homes and spacious apartments.

Every aspect has been carefully considered, from the sensitively-planned road design to decorative street lighting, to create one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious new developments.

The development reflects the need for high- quality family homes in the area, with the new-build design incorporating garages, en-suites and large family areas within a traditional exterior layout.

Sarah Stanger adds: “CALA has a strong track record in developing high quality family homes in the Trinity area, with recent developments in East Fettes selling well and Pavilion in Inverleith having sold out in spring 2010.

“The Trinity Park development will provide another great opportunity to deliver high quality homes in a highly desirable area. Opportunities like this do not come along too often in Edinburgh, and it is further proof that the city can continue to be an attractive and desirable location.”

Country living with bright city lights within easy reach is usually no more than a dream for many home buyers but, at The Beeches, dreams become reality. Nestling at the gateway to Stirlingshire and Perthshire, this development could hold the key to striking the perfect lifestyle balance.

This stunning collection of homes serves as a portal to Perthshire’s unrivalled beauty. The stunning Allan and Knaik homes are a sparkling showcase for this exclusive address.

This impressive development immediately greets visitors with breath-taking views of the rolling countryside. The traditional exteriors emanate a decidedly “Scottish countryside” feel – while hinting at the modern scale within.

On entering The Knaik show home, visitors will be instantly attracted by the bright and airy hallway. The ground floor boasts a spacious lounge with French-style glass doors leading to the dining room - successfully linking the front of the property to the rear and the part elevated gardens beyond.

The outstanding point of difference in the show home, however, is the dining room. With unrivalled views of the picture-postcard countryside beyond, light pours into the room through slide-aside patio doors serving as a connection to the property and the beautiful outdoors – complete with decked garden area.

Also featured on the ground floor is the generously proportioned kitchen area which includes a breakfast area and separate utility. The downstairs quarters are completed by spacious cloaks and integral garage.

Upstairs, the master bedroom features two banks of integral wardrobes and a spacious shower en suite. Three further bedrooms are to be found upstairs, one with an en suite and all with fitted double wardrobes. Plot 3 – The Knaik – is also on sale for £295,000 along with The Allan which is priced at £325,000.

Graham McNeil, Managing Director of Westpoint Homes, says: “Greenloaning is a well-kept secret, especially among commuters to Perth, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Ideal for swift access on to the A9, and yet maintaining that traditional village feel, removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life. You can be in Dunblane within five to six minutes or Bridge of Allan within 10, but in all likelihood get much more house for your money.

“What we have brought to Greenloaning is a beautiful collection of entirely bespoke, contemporary four and five bedroom homes featuring a very traditional look and feel that works well within the village. The proximity to the renowned local primary school was also a big draw for us, as was the fact that the majority of secondary schools in the surrounding towns feature new purpose built campuses.

“It’s a place that offers so much lifestyle choice; Dunblane Hydro, the Gleneagles resort and Crieff Hydro to name but a few.”

The sales office is open from 11am to 5:30pm Thursday to Monday, located just off Millhill Road, and the sales team can be contacted on 01786 880755.  Alternatively, visit www.westpointhomes.net for further information on the site.

Mactaggart & Mickel Press Release - September 26, 2011

Scottish Housebuilder of the Year* Mactaggart & Mickel Group has given its home on the web a makeover.

The new website reflects the successful growth of the Group in recent years following its diversification strategy.  Each of the divisions’ web pages have been redeveloped to offer a comprehensive guide to the company’s capabilities, from Commercial Property’s extensive portfolio of opportunities and Contracts’ wealth of construction services to the cost saving benefits of Mactaggart & Mickel Timber Systems.

The Homes division’s new website uses the latest technology to help customers find their perfect property with ease.  Potential buyers can arrange a viewing or request a call back from one of the company’s Institute of Customer Service certified sales consultants at the click of a button.

The Find a Perfect Home search function, which allows visitors to narrow down the array of properties on offer to meet their specifications, has also been improved.  Househunters can zoom in on sites to explore them in detail and even get some tips from the sales consultants on the best local amenities.

The company has seen an increase in the volume of potential buyers who access its site from mobile devices such as smartphones and as a result has invested in a dedicated mobile site designed to be compatible for viewing on handsets.  QR codes on Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ advertising mean consumers now also have instant access to more information if they spot the home of their dreams in the pages of their daily newspaper.

Sales and marketing director Joanne Casey explains the rationale behind the relaunch: “While our last website was award-winning, we have not rested on our laurels, embracing technology to make our clients and stakeholders’ online experience as beneficial as possible.

“Take for example our new mobile site.  The way in which househunters search for a new home has changed in recent years and very often the website will be the first point of contact for potential customers.  The mobile functionality makes information gathering even simpler for our customers so whether you’re on the sofa with your iPad or on the move with your Android phone you can quickly and easily access our site.”

Mactaggart & Mickel Group prides itself on leading industry innovation and best practice and the new website is just one example of this.  Its unique Timber Systems method is at the forefront of modern construction, delivering well ahead of legislation requirements. The company has invested significantly in improving products and processes to enhance speed of build, quality and sustainability to the point where a property can be made wind and watertight in just one day.

The company was recently named the winner of the Newcomer to CSR category at the Quality Scotland Business Excellence Awards in acknowledgement of its efforts to encourage customers, employees and suppliers to live and operate more sustainably.  Site manager Mike Loughran, who oversees the firm’s Hillpark development in Edinburgh, has also been recognised taking home the Small Builder award for the North Region at the NHBC Health and Safety Awards 2011.

Sarah Stanger, Sales and Marketing Director, at CALA Homes (East) said: “We have received a great deal of interest in Larkfield and are anticipating a successful run of sales when the first homes are released on Saturday. These detached family homes offer the best of rural tranquillity while remaining conveniently close to the city and main commuter routes.

“With starting prices from £295,000 and a range of competitive incentives on offer, now is the time for prospective buyers to get in touch with our sales team to find out whether Larkfield is the right move for them.”

Homes at the development have been selected from CALA’s award-winning ‘Signature Collection’ house types.

The Signature range was devised based on customer surveys and tailored to suit the needs of modern family living. CALA architects and product designers held a series of focus groups as part of the ‘Signature Collection’ design phase which led to CALA integrating the traditional styling, synonymous with the brand, while incorporating contemporary interior spaces to suit modern ways of life.

The range typically features separate formal living and reception areas on the ground floor while, in most cases, offering an open-plan layout in the kitchen and family living area, which has proved highly successful.

Sarah Stanger commented: “In the development of the ‘Signature Collection’, CALA took buyer feedback into consideration. We reviewed the drivers in the Scottish house building market and what they mean for the future of our homes. The Signature Collection has been born out of this process and we are confident that it will be a great success at this new development.”

The Larkfield, Eskbank sales office is open Thursday – Monday 11am – 5.30pm. For further information contact 0131 660 9062 or visit www.calahomes.co.uk.

The award winning family housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel Group has announced that they will be sponsoring the talented North Ayrshire swimmer Jordan Hughes. The sponsorship package will support Jordan as he sets his sights on achieving qualification for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Jordan has won gold medals in both the 100m and 200m freestyle four years running at the British Age Group Championships. At the 2011 competition he was confirmed as the most successful Scottish Age Group swimmer.  The highlight of his participation was his 200m freestyle time, which broke the Scottish record. He also recently won gold in the 200m butterfly, silver in 100 butterfly, 5th in the 400 freestyle and 7th in the 200 individual medley.

Jordan is highly dedicated to competitive swimming and trains both in and out of the pool for over 16 hours a week, organising this all around his school work. Joanne Casey, sales and marketing director at Mactaggart & Mickel commented: “It is our privilege to support such a committed and talented swimmer as Jordan. He is a fantastic role model for aspiring Scottish athletes and we look forward to watching his progress in his events and wish him the best of luck.”

Jordan Hughes added: “This is a big boost for me as I train towards my goal of competing in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. I would like to thank the team from Mactaggart & Mickel Group for all the good wishes and generous support.”

Mactaggart & Mickel Press Release - July 26, 2011

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has opened a hat trick of spectacular showhomes at its East Craigs development in Edinburgh where the first release of properties has been selling fast.  The site, known locally as Bughtlin Market, is in the north-west of the city.  Ideally located for those who want to enjoy the convenience of city living, househunters are being urged to move quickly to secure their new home.

The Lismore is a perfectly proportioned three-bedroom terraced villa.  Decorated in chic but practical monochrome shades, the kitchen’s crisp white tiling contrasts with the granite effect worktops and the modern wall mirrors add a touch of sparkle.

Moving down the hall, the lounge is a calming combination of grey and white with vibrant splashes of yellow.  Sunny floral curtains and cushions make the room bright and inviting and the dining table’s golden gladioli are the perfect centerpiece.

Upstairs the bedrooms cater for adults and children alike.  The master bedroom reflects the sophisticated sunshine décor of the lounge with an eye-catching floral feature wall and a glamorous cream headboard studded with glittering crystals.  The second bedroom is one for the boys with a fleet of planes, trains and automobiles powering across the walls while the third bedroom features street scenes of pastel houses and pretty polka dots.

The Uist is a spacious two-bedroom apartment which makes great use of natural light – the three windows in the lounge allow the sunshine to flood into the bright living space.  Decorated in vibrant hues, the lounge is an explosion of colour with a candy striped feature wall and dramatic floral touches. The white furniture and neutral floor coverings create the perfect backdrop.

The kitchen’s glossy white units and shiny stainless steel appliances are modern classics while the retro patterned window blind and splashes of lime accessories reflect the fresh, fun feel of the lounge.

Both bedrooms are generously proportioned with fitted wardrobes in the first providing ample storage space.  Moving through to the beautifully finished bathroom, the caramel and chocolate tones create a warm, inviting haven perfect for pampering.

The Rannoch is the largest house type available at East Craigs and the four-bedroom showhome demonstrates the flexibility of the three storey property.

The kitchen is bright and fresh.  The white units and light wood finishes create a light open space with plenty of work surfaces for budding chefs and lots of storage for essential ingredients.

Glamour is the order of the day in the lounge which is flanked by two feature walls adorned with striking woodland wallpaper in shades of charcoal and ash grey.  Neutral walls and furnishings contrast with bold accessories in black, silver and cerise pink.  The elegant mirrored dining table in the spacious lounge is set for an evening of sophisticated entertaining.

The first floor master bedroom is an opulent blend of luxurious textures and rich golden tones.   With satin bedding and sequin scatter cushions, the décor is unashamedly boudoir chic.  The first floor also houses an additional family room while the three remaining bedrooms and family bathroom are on the top floor.

East Craigs offers buyers a range of home styles from one and two-bedroom apartments to three and four-bedroom terraced townhouses with two and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached villas also available.  The development also includes a small collection of retail units for residents’ convenience and the local primary and secondary school are close by.

The centre of Edinburgh is just a short drive and the city bypass is only minutes away providing easy access to East Lothian and the Borders.

Robertson Homes Press Release - July 14, 2011

-Housebuilder surprised by RICS findings-

The latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Housing Market Survey states house sales in June have dipped.  However, in response to this Robertson Homes has reported securing 50% higher sales than projected in a four week period, from early June.

Sales have been hotting up this summer for Robertson Homes, which witnessed a flurry of interest across all developments from Dumfries to Inverness since introducing a range of new incentives to make buying a new home easier.

These moves secured an uplift of almost 50% over predicted Scottish sales for the past month, especially in the leafy Westercraigs area in Inverness and in Ayr, with sales secured within a week of the new showhome opening at Kings Park.

Sales and Marketing Director Andrea Joyce said: “We are delighted to see such an uplift in sales.  Over the past few months we have spent time listening to customers concerns and have responded by developing a variety of packages and incentives to make moving to a new home easier for a range of people. A Robertson Home, whether from our International or Boutique range, offers plenty of space and represents quality and value for money.”

One new incentive under the “Moving Made Easy” umbrella offers buyers the chance to: live mortgage free for a year; or to have their five per cent deposit matched; or have their stamp duty paid, have fitted floor coverings plus cashback and have their new garden turfed at the front and rear.

Another incentive package, under the banner of “Your Dream Home is Within Reach”, has been developed for first time buyers. It offers those struggling to get on the property ladder payment of a five percent deposit, no stamp duty and a house ready to move in to with floor coverings and landscaped gardens.

Both initiatives are the result of Robertson Homes listening to feedback from customers who want to move but are struggling with some of the additional costs involved. The flexible range of incentives offer people plenty of room to manoeuvre and put that new home within reach.

Robertson Homes currently has homes available in Inverness, Elgin, Ayr, Dumfries, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, New Stevenson and Paisley.

Showhomes and marketing suites are open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5.30pm

Mactaggart & Mickel Press Release - July 05, 2011

-          Uplawmoor application granted -

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, the award-winning family-owned housebuilder, has had its planning application for 39 new homes in Uplawmoor in East Renfrewshire approved.  The site on the east side of the village off Neilston Road was allocated for housing in the Local Plan by East Renfrewshire Council.  It is anticipated that work will commence on the site by the end of 2012.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ proposed development will result in a high quality development sympathetic to the existing village.  The rural area benefits from many existing local amenities such as the adjacent country walkway and local primary school.

The new Uplawmoor development will feature a selection of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ most popular home styles including the Lomond, Broom, Islay and Arran - which was winner of the best family home at The Herald Property Awards 2009.  A quarter of the development will feature smaller homes to help accommodate first time buyers who may otherwise not be able to afford a home in the village.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has also committed to providing a financial contribution to East Renfrewshire Council to upgrade the existing primary school and play facilities to support the expanding community, along with providing new pedestrian links to the adjoining footpath which runs along the former railway line to the south east of the site.

David Jewell, strategic land & planning manager for Mactaggart & Mickel Homes said:  “Mactaggart & Mickel Homes is delighted to be working with East Renfrewshire Council to extend the Uplawmoor community.  We would like to thank the members of the Council and Community Council who responded positively to this application and we look forward to providing much needed homes for local purchasers and others, injecting a boost into the local economy.”

Uplawmoor is one of the smallest villages in East Renfrewshire which has retained its attractive rural charm.  It is less than half an hour from Glasgow International Airport and the same distance to Prestwick Airport and the heart of Ayrshire.  With a population of approx 600, the main hubs of the village are the local primary school and the popular Uplawmoor Hotel which features an AA rosette restaurant.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has historically built in the East Renfrewshire area and will also be developing a sustainable community in Polnoon, in the village of Eaglesham which is expected on site during 2012.  The 121 home development encapsulates a new design approach with the objective of building a more sustainable and quality living environment.

The Scottish Government worked in partnership with Mactaggart & Mickel Homes and East Renfrewshire Council to deliver a revised masterplan.  The new design includes interconnected shared areas such as a central square, lanes and courts, making a better use of space and encouraging walking and cycling.

The development will be a prime example of what planners, housebuilders and communities can achieve through partnership in developing more sustainable places.

Mactaggart & Mickel Group has been hand-crafting homes for generations and is now going into its 86th year in the industry.  It is one of Scotland’s most successful independent housebuilders employing over 200 people and is part of the City Legacy Consortium which has been awarded the contract to build the athletes’ village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Merchant Homes cruise incentive - June 27, 2011

-Cruise into a sparkling new lifestyle with Merchant Homes -

Merchant Homes is offering homebuyers the chance to cruise their way into a luxury dream show home. The leading housebuilder has partnered with upmarket cruise operator, Cruise118 to mark the sale of the final property at the Woodland Gait development - the stunning five bedroom Ash show home.

Located in the picture postcard village of Inverkip and just minutes away from the picturesque Kip Marina, househunters with style and location at the forefront of their mind need look no further than a luxury home in Inverkip.

Taking waterfront living to a whole new level, Merchant Homes will not only hand over the keys to a spectacular home to the final Woodland Gait resident - but a luxury cruise of the homebuyer’s choice to the value of £10,000*.

This means a family of four could be embarking on a dream 14 night Mediterranean cruise in a spacious Owners Suite, with 15 decks of dining, accommodation and entertainment options including the FlowRider surf simulator. Or a couple could set sail on a six star, all-inclusive luxury Caribbean cruise for nine nights, with a cruise and stay pre-cruise night in Fort Lauderdale, enjoying Vista suite and business class flights.

Linda McLuskie, Sales and Marketing Director for Merchant Homes, said: “Woodland Gait is all about specially crafted homes that represent a certain lifestyle. Having Kip Marina on its doorstep just gives this development an air of distinction and for that reason we wanted to give homebuyers an extra incentive that echoes the sentiment of Woodland Gait.

"In partnering with Cruise118 we will be able to set homebuyers off on a voyage of a lifetime. A bespoke interior designed fully fitted show home and a holiday with all the trimmings - enough to put the wind in anyone's sail!"

Alison Earnshaw from Cruise118 said: “The popularity of cruise holidays just keeps on growing, with people looking for that little bit of luxury and adventure on their holiday. Whoever snaps up the last property at Woodland Gait will work with our advisors to tailor make their trip, so they’ll have the perfect excuse to relax and unwind after the big move!”

The Ash show home is priced at £425,000 and comes complete with luxury fittings throughout including curtains, blinds, light fittings, carpets, fully landscaped gardens and a stunning limestone fireplace.

Inside, the show home begins with a spacious living room which is bathed in light from the impressive double bay windows. Further inside, a superbly proportioned kitchen and breakfast room stretches to almost 26ft, further complimented by a large utility room and a separate dining room, plus patio doors leading to a beautifully decked rear garden.

Upstairs, the master suite will immediately impress with its space and style. The room is home to a triple sized bi-fold fitted wardrobe and extensive bay window, plus large en suite shower room.

Across the hall, bedroom one is almost as large as the master suite, and boasts a stunning balcony, en suite shower room and double wardrobe with sliding glass doors.

Three further double bedrooms – one with built in double wardrobe – are also located on the first floor. A grand family bathroom and a large storage cupboard complete the impressive upstairs quarters.

Linda McLuskie adds: “Woodland Gait is a fantastic little neighbourhood in Inverkip. The picturesque marina is just a short stroll away, and the local primary school a minute’s walk. The village itself is idyllic, yet Inverkip is just 40 minutes away from Glasgow. It really is an address to be proud of.”

Further public consultation for the planned £1bn 4,000 home Chapelton of Elsick development will take place later this month.

The new community is planned on farmland to the west of Newtonhill, ten miles south of Aberdeen.

Members of the public are invited to attend a second exhibition at the Cookney Village Hall from 10am to 8pm on Thursday 30 June 2011 and from 9am to 4pm on Friday 1 July. Members of the public will  be able to view and comment on the latest designs for the new settlement, which includes primary schools, a secondary school, leisure and community facilities, retail and business facilities.

Lord Southesk, director of Elsick Development Company Ltd, representing the landowners, said: “The community has already been involved in every stage of the development of Chapelton. Over 300 people attended a ten-day ‘Charrette’ last September, during which they worked with a world-class design team to develop the masterplan.

We collected valuable feedback on our earlier designs at these events, including the need for bungalows and an endorsement of largely traditional housetypes.

“The exhibition is an opportunity for people to get involved in creating a new, sustainable style of living. The masterplan is being developed by Andres Duany, the world renowned pioneer of new urbanism, a movement which aims to build walkable, mixed use towns with a focus on building communities. Robertson Homes are now offering buyers the chance to: live mortgage free for a year, to have their five per cent deposit matched, have their stamp duty paid, have fitted floor coverings, cashback or have their new home turfed at the front and rear.

An ambitious vision to create one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious city-centre residential developments has moved a step closer to reality following planning approval for CALA Homes’ Trinity Park site.

CALA is now moving forward with plans to create an architecturally-designed development comprising 81 new homes across the six-acre former Trinity Park House site in the north of the city-centre.

A mix of high quality semi-detached, terraced and mews houses along with some apartments will be enclosed on the tree-lined site, which historically formed the old walled garden of Trinity Park House.

The plans for the new development reflect a bespoke design which was inspired by the best of Edinburgh’s rich architectural tradition.

CALA’s development manager Gillian Tait explains: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a residential development which applies a modern take on the city’s classic Georgian architecture.

“We have taken the best of space and scope of traditional building design, with classic facades and high-proportioned doors and ceilings, and combined it with all the advantages of contemporary living - such as modern kitchens, en-suite bathrooms and open-plan living space.

The development layout represents the nature of the walled garden and enhances the existing mature landscape.

Kevin Whitaker, Managing Director of CALA Homes (East), believes the design of the proposals reflects the strong demand for family homes in the Capital.

“CALA’s proposals reflect the need for high- quality family homes in the area, with the new-build design incorporating garages, en-suites and large family areas within a traditional exterior layout,” he says.

“CALA has a strong track record in developing high quality family homes in the Trinity area, with recent developments in East Fettes selling well and Pavilion in Inverleith having sold out in spring 2010.

“The Trinity Park site will provide another great opportunity to deliver high quality homes in a highly desirable area. Opportunities like Trinity Park House do not come along too often in Edinburgh, and it is further proof that the city can continue to be an attractive and desirable location.”

CALA purchased the Trinity Park House site from RSM Tenon, the administrators for the previous owners, Ailsa Investments Limited. The site previously had a planning permission for 256 apartments along with an underground car park.

CALA expects to start on site in the summer with the first homes being available in spring 2012. Prices will range from £300,000 to £950,000.

Westpoint Homes Press Release - April 15, 2011

Westpoint Homes unveils first showhome at exclusive Greenloaning development

Country living with bright city lights within easy reach is usually no more than a dream for many home buyers.

However, a boutique development of luxurious detached homes nestling at the gateway to Stirlingshire and Perthshire could hold the key to striking the perfect lifestyle balance.

Westpoint Homes’ The Beeches in Greenloaning is a development comprising 11 four and five-bed homes, located just 15 minutes north of Stirling and within a 25 minute car journey of Perth. Stylish, modern living amidst an epic backdrop of open countryside in this well established hamlet is ideal in so many ways. And the development’s newly unveiled Knaik show-home perfectly accentuates this idyllic lifestyle.

Surrounded by sweeping green fields as far as the eye can see, this stunning collection of homes serves as a portal to Perthshire’s unrivalled beauty - making it an irresistible choice for families seeking out a spectacular home in a beautiful setting.

The four bedroom Knaik show home is a sparkling showcase for this exclusive address.

Upon visiting, viewers are immediately greeted with breath-taking views of the rolling countryside. The Knaik stands proudly on a comfortable plot; with unmistakable kerb appeal. The traditional exterior emanates a decidedly “Scottish countryside” feel – while hinting at the modern scale within.

On entering the property, visitors will be instantly attracted by the bright and airy hallway. The décor throughout the home takes inspiration from the property’s picturesque location – blending natural, earthy tones with contemporary splashes of colour and style.

The ground floor boasts a spacious lounge with French-style glass doors leading to the dining room - successfully linking the front of the property to the rear and the part elevated gardens beyond. The room has been tastefully dressed in rich, creamy tones with vibrant bursts of orange creating a chic and sophisticated living space. Silver statement furniture adds visual interest to the room, creating a unique talking point when visitors call by.

The outstanding point of difference in the show home, however, is the dining room. With unrivalled views of the picture-postcard countryside beyond, the unspoiled views of the idyllic rural setting are the stand-out perk of this impressive room, and the property as a whole.

Light pours into the room through slide-aside patio doors serving as a connection to the property and the beautiful outdoors – complete with decked garden area; ideal for those looking to bring the outside in. The room oozes timeless elegance from top to bottom with sumptuous, plush furnishings and glamorous silver décor – perfect for entertaining.

Also featured on the ground floor is the generously proportioned kitchen area which includes a breakfast area and separate utility, and is kitted out in chic monochrome décor. The breakfast area also benefits from the extraordinary views on offer.

The downstairs quarters are completed by a spacious cloaks and integral garage.

Upstairs, the views continue from room to room – as does the style. The master bedroom features two banks of integral wardrobes and a spacious shower en suite. The room is decked out in swirled patterns of mocha, cappuccino and silver – with bold black highlights catching the eye.

Three further bedrooms are to be found upstairs, one with an en suite and all with fitted double wardrobes. Quirky styling touches include a girly ‘candy-cane’ look and a New York inspired ‘Big Apple’ theme. The upstairs of the home is finished off with an impressive 4-piece family bathroom with large shower enclosure.

Every home at ‘Greenloaning’ enjoys an exceptional level of finish with designer kitchens, integrated appliances, branded sanitary ware and Porcelanosa tiling.  There is also an extensive client choices programme to ensure that your home is a reflection of your lifestyle and personality.

Graham McNeil, development director of Westpoint Homes, says: “Greenloaning is a well-kept secret, especially among commuters to Perth, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The villages of Greenloaning and Braco are renowned for their five star primary schools, each located within minutes of the development. Visitors travel from far and wide to eat at the villages’ equally renowned Allan Bank Hotel and Frog and Thistle gastro-pub, both child friendly and offering hearty and tasty food throughout the week.

Easily one of the most accessible country villages in central Scotland, Greenloaning is situated within easy reach of the A9 motorway, providing direct access to Edinburgh and Glasgow within 50 minutes, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan just 10 minutes and Perth just 20 minutes north. Crieff lies just 20 minutes east of the development.

Graham McNeil continues: “Greenloaning offers a lifestyle that’s very hard to find. It is a dream development for those in pursuit of the perfect work-life balance, a true compromise between country and city that offers the best of both.”

Prices at Greenloaning start from £295,000. The sales office is open from 11am to 5:30pm Thursday to Monday, located just off Millhill Road, and the sales team can be contacted on 01786 880755.  Alternatively, visit www.westpointhomes.net for further information on the site.

CALA Homes Press Release - April 04, 2011

CALA Homes, the Edinburgh-based premium housebuilding group, has, for the second year running, received the top customer satisfaction ratings achievable in a survey of major UK housebuilders.

In a national survey of people who bought new homes between 1st October 2009 and 30th September 2010 undertaken by the Home Builders Federation (HBF), on the two key measures of ‘quality of home’ and ‘customers prepared to recommend the company’s homes to a friend’, CALA achieved excellent scores, winning five (out of a possible five) stars in both categories. This is the 2nd year in a row that CALA has achieved some of the best scores in the industry picking up the maximum 5 star awards in these key categories.

The HBF results are backed up by the findings of independent housebuilding industry specialists In-house Research which showed that 95.5% of people who bought a home from CALA Homes in 2010 would recommend to a friend.

Alan Brown, chief executive of CALA Group, welcomed the outcomes of the independent surveys.

He said: “I am delighted that all of our efforts have been recognised by our customers. These findings reinforce the fact that customer satisfaction lies at the very heart of everything we do.

“They also recognise the hard work undertaken in every area of our business, from land buying, through planning, procurement, construction and sales to customer service.

“Customer service is a philosophy that drives our business, our products and our people. For CALA, the phrase is not an add-on service or a tick-in-the box public relations exercise – rather it is a way of thinking and acting that the entire company lives and breathes every day, in all aspects of its work.”

CALA Homes operates in the North, East and West of Scotland, in Yorkshire, in the Midlands and in the South East of England.  Head quartered in Edinburgh, it is one of the UK's leading privately-owned residential developers.

CALA Homes (East) has recently released additional homes at its newest developments in the region: The Mooring, Ratho and Longacre, Kirkliston due to high customer demand. The housebuilder also has homes available at East Fettes and Grovewood Hill with a range of excellent incentives on offer across many sites.

The company is marketing developments across the UK, which include a range of new homes from one-bedroom apartments to £2.2 million mansion houses, all of which feature CALA’s renowned standard of design, build and finish.

MacTaggart & Mickel Press Release - March 08, 2011

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, the award-winning family-owned housebuilder, has been allocated a site for residential development in Uplawmoor within East Renfrewshire.  The builder intends to submit its planning application for 39 homes during March 2011.

The site on the side of the village off Neilston Road was recently allocated for housing by East Renfrewshire Council.  The Council produced a planning brief for the site which Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has complimented in its submission and believe will result in a high quality development sympathetic to the existing village and which links into existing amenities in the area such as the adjacent country walkway and local primary school

Proposals have been sent to local Councillors, members of the Community Council and local primary school in advance of its submission to East Renfrewshire Council. Should the proposals be approved, the Glasgow-based developer intends to commence work towards the end of 2012.

The Uplawmoor development design features a selection of Mactaggart & Mickel’s most popular home styles including the Lomond, Broom, Islay and Arran - which was winner of the best family home at The Herald Property Awards 2009.  A quarter of the development will feature smaller homes which will be classed as affordable housing, to help accommodate first time buyers who may otherwise not be able to afford a home in the village.

The Council in their planning brief indicate that funds from Mactaggart & Mickel would be directed towards contributing to an offsite play area for local children.  Mactaggart & Mickel Homes would be delighted to assist in such an initiative along with providing new pedestrian links to the adjoining footpath which runs along the former railway line to the south east of the site.

David Jewell, strategic land & planning manager for Mactaggart & Mickel Homes said:  “This will be the first development in the village for many years and will provide much needed homes for local purchasers and others, injecting a boost into the local community.  We have worked extensively to ensure that our proposals are in keeping with the local environment and hope to be able to provide quality homes in this attractive location.”

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has historically built in the East Renfrewshire area and will also be developing a sustainable community in Polnoon, in the village of Eaglesham which starts on site in early summer 2011.

The development will be a prime example of what planners, house builders and communities can achieve through partnership in developing more sustainable places.

CALA Homes Press Release - February 22, 2011

CALA Homes have lodged a detailed planning application for the redevelopment of the six-acre former Trinity Park House site in Edinburgh.

The application includes a range of semi-detached, terraced and mews houses along with some apartments on an enclosed, tree-lined site.

Kevin Whitaker, Managing Director of CALA East, believes the design of the proposals reflects the strong demand for family homes in the Capital.

“CALA has a strong track record in developing high quality family homes in the Trinity area, with recent developments in East Fettes selling well and Pavilion in Inverleith having sold out in spring 2010,” he says.

“The Trinity Park site will provide another great opportunity to deliver high quality homes in a highly desirable area. Opportunities like Trinity Park House do not come along too often in Edinburgh, and it is further proof that the city can continue to be an attractive and desirable location despite the housing downturn. The flexibility for CALA to deal with a site of this size shows the confidence of our recent experience of the Edinburgh market.

“The proposals reflect the need for high quality family homes in the area, with the new-build design incorporating garages, en-suites and large family areas within a traditional exterior layout.”

CALA purchased the Trinity Park House site from RSM Tenon, the administrators for the previous owners, Ailsa Investments Limited. The site previously had a planning permission for 256 apartments along with an underground car park.

Subject to planning, CALA expects to start on site in the summer with the first homes being available in spring 2012.

The additional homes will build on a run of success at the development, which witnessed a record number of visitors during its opening weekend and sold 50 per cent of the first phase pre-launch, amounting to around £3 million of advance sales.

The Mooring, Ratho – a highly anticipated new development which will boast a canal basin as its centrepiece – has released an additional six homes, with prices starting from £335,000 for the four and five bedroom properties.

During its launch weekend in October 2010, a third of available homes were sold over the two days.

Sarah Stanger, Sales and Marketing Director, at CALA Homes (East) said: “Our Kirkliston and Ratho developments were highly anticipated pre-launch, with a staggering number of homes purchased as soon as they were made available. Westpoint Homes Press Release - February 17, 2011

Westpoint Homes unveils luxury living on another level in Balfron

Westpoint Homes has unveiled a magnificent new three-storey show home as part of their final phase at the prestigious Donaldson Wynd development in Balfron, Stirlingshire where only 3 homes remain for sale.

The spectacular new show home is the fourth to be opened in this exclusive development, with the previous three properties being quickly snapped up by savvy buyers who simply had to have them.

Tucked away in an established pocket of the conservation village, this development, comprising impressive five and six-bedroom homes, strikes the ideal balance between country living and city accessibility - making Donaldson Wynd an irresistible choice for discerning home buyers who want the best of both worlds.

The new Ben Nevis show home nestles on a spacious plot which promotes a sense of arrival and good privacy, as well as providing for an open outlook to the rear with the rolling countryside beyond.   The homes’ grand, traditional façade hints at the impressive scale within which typifies the standard of new homes available at this exclusive address.

On entering the show home, visitors will be instantly attracted to the bright and airy hall which features a striking oak staircase - giving the home that all-important “wow” factor on entry.

The interior design throughout, coordinated by Eileen Kesson of Envision, is a reflection of the development’s ethos – blending natural, earthy tones with contemporary splashes of colour, with the emphasis very much on bringing a sense of the great outdoors into the heart of the home.

The light, neutral palette throughout the show home simply accentuates the superb space standards within this luxury, well-appointed home with the summer-bright splashes of colour on feature walls and soft furnishings adding vibrancy and visual interest throughout.

The ground floor of the property boasts a large living area with picture postcard views onto the extensive rear gardens which can be accessed via slide-a-side patio doors. The living room is decorated in rich, creamy tones with dramatic touches of black and lime adding a chic twist. Leaf-motif soft furnishings, wicker chairs and dark wood accents reflect the property’s unique semi-rural location. The living room features a cosy study recess which is the perfect spot for a work station, library and other home office essentials.

Also featured on the ground floor is the extensive kitchen area which includes a breakfasting area and family room. This luxury sized space is sure to be the hub of the home with direct access to the garden offered once again via slide-a-side patio doors – an excellent example of how the home connects to the well stocked gardens beyond. The room has been decorated to compliment the gold almond and royal oak tones of the kitchen cabinetry, with a soft, yellow feature wall creating the perfect back drop for a 'modern country' family dining area.

The ground floor is completed by a separate dining room, large WC and utility room with access to the integral double garage.

Upstairs, the show home continues to evoke an authentic sense of grandeur. The sweeping oak staircase leads to a notably large reception hall where four of the bedrooms are situated, along with a second living area and family bathroom directly above the double garage. The family room on this floor is a fresh, contemporary space which could be the perfect kids’ den when mum and dad are entertaining in the formal lounge below.  The bold, striking wallpaper adds contrast to the clean white walls giving the room a modern chic feel.

Bedroom two of the property is decorated with bright colour accents of fuchsia pink and jewel purple ensuring the eye-catching style of this home is consistent throughout. The bedroom comes complete with an en-suite and more than ample built-in wardrobe space. A further three double bedrooms, some of which enjoy extraordinary views, all come complete with fitted wardrobes.  A large four-piece family bathroom with Porcelanosa wall tiling and Villeroy & Boch sanitaryware, and a super-sized walk-in storage cupboard completes the upstairs accommodation.

The main event in this property is found on the 2nd floor however, or the third level where the entire floor area has been dedicated to a bedroom and en-suite of unrivalled proportion.   Serene, private, exorbitantly spacious with superb attention to detail, this room will be a real winner with those discerning buyers looking for that little bit of added luxury.  The space and style of the room, equipped with king-size bed, sofa, coffee table, and bedside cabinetry, not to mention two banks of fitted wardrobes will immediately impress visitors looking for a home with a cutting-edge, something that little bit different from the norm!  This huge open plan space with dressing area also has a five-piece master en-suite which includes a ‘his & hers’ sink.

Those who do visit the Ben Nevis show home will get a real feel for the myriad of lifestyle possibilities made possible by a Westpoint home at Donaldson Wynd.

While capturing the sense of rural village life, Donaldson Wynd is ideal for busy families who want the best of both worlds. The development is equidistant to Glasgow and Stirling, but has great schooling literally on the doorstep.  It’s the ideal place to begin your day or end your week!  The sort of place where next weekend cannot come quickly enough!

The Ben Nevis show home also gives visitors a taste of the outstanding specifications that come as standard at Donaldson Wynd. The various house styles are markedly different, but the same high level of fixtures and fittings are assured in each home.

Prices start from £470,000 for the Ben Nevis and Ben More property styles. There are now only 3 homes available.

The sales office is open from 11am to 5:30pm Thursday to Monday and the sales team can be contacted on 01360 449552.  Alternatively, visit www.westpointhomes.net for further information on the site.

CALA Homes Press Release - February 04, 2011

A report published this week revealing that East Dunbartonshire has overtaken Edinburgh as the Scottish local authority area with the highest average house price, has sparked a huge surge of interest at CALA Home’s flagship Marchfield development in Milngavnie.

The annual homes report from the Registers of Scotland reveals that last year, homes in East Dunbartonshire had the highest percentage price rise with an average property price of £216,644 - up 10.5 per cent on the same quarter of 2009.

The news has created a flood of customer enquiries about availability at CALA’s Marchfield site which has become a remarkable success story for the premium house-builder. Launched less than a year ago, just a handful of the detached homes are still available.

CALA has recently opened two new showhomes which emphasise the high quality and luxury family living which can be enjoyed at Marchfield.

Mactaggart & Mickel Press Release - February 04, 2011

*Free to use images attached

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has gained planning consent from South Ayrshire Council for the first phase of a mixed-use development at Greenan in the coastal entry to Ayr, which overlooks its existing award-winning site, Ailsa View in Doonfoot.

The initial construction phase will include 75 private homes, 25 affordable houses built in partnership with West of Scotland Housing Association, four retail units including a national operator for the largest unit and a 60 bed care home which will be delivered by the company’s external contracting arm, Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts.

Ground and preparation work is scheduled to commence in spring/summer with the retail units and homes starting in the autumn.  Retail units will be completed during 2012 and the homes in 2014.

The residential homes will be the first of approximately 500 to be brought to Greenan by Mactaggart & Mickel Homes by 2020.  The development will contribute to the delivery of the Scottish Government’s target of 35,000 new homes a year by 2015.

Featuring a range of contemporary accommodation - from two bedroom semi-detached homes to the developers new five bedroom Bernera corner house to be launched at Greenan - the development will offer residents flexible and stylish living in an appealing and vibrant community.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has a longstanding commitment to Ayrshire, having built numerous high quality developments in the area.  The housebuilder has been working closely with South Ayrshire Council for a number of years to establish the future needs of the local area and how these can best be met by the development.

In addition, Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has pledged a £1.3m educational investment during this first phase from which three local schools – Doonfoot Primary, St John’s Primary and Kyle Academy - will benefit.  Future phases of home building will contribute a further £5million in educational investment.

Liz Farrell, land manager at Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, commented: “This is excellent news for Ayrshire.   We are extremely grateful to South Ayrshire Council and local stakeholders who committed extensive time during the consultation process.  This form of collaboration has played a part in gaining such a positive conclusion.

“The Greenan site will bring much needed housing to the area in addition to other facilities from which local residents will benefit greatly, all accommodated within an attractive and well connected site.”

Greenan has been owned by Mactaggart & Mickel Homes since 1974 and was identified by South Ayrshire Council as a suitable housing site in 1971 and then again in the Consultative Draft Local Plan in 1999.

The South Ayrshire Local Plan 2007 earmarked the site as a greenfield strategic housing release site.  The Greenan development will provide the local community with enhanced green space, thanks to the creation of play areas and public parks and improved access.  Mactaggart & Mickel Homes will also be funding the extension of the local bus service to connect the new development to existing routes.

The Paton provides five bedrooms, three with en-suite, plus a detached triple garage with a self-contained one-bedroom flat on the first floor. And what makes this Paton so special is that it is the Showhome designed by celebrity interior designer John Amabile.

Prices at Marchfield start from £625,000 with up to 100% part exchange,* plus other incentives on selected plots. CALA’s part exchange* offer means CALA will arrange a free, independent valuation of your home and, subject to status, can offer up to 100% of your property’s market value. Buyers will have no estate agent fees, Home Report or usual selling costs to incur. It really is that simple.

The Showhomes at Marchfield are open daily from 11am – 5.30pm. For further information on the development call 01324 600 218 or visit www.calahomes.co.uk.
