Kirtkintilloch is to see 199 new properties built as part of a planned construction by Gladedale Central Scotland, it has been revealed.
The scheme is to see 186 homes and some 13 luxury apartments put in place on the former Broomhill Hospital site, reports the Kirtkintilloch Herald.
A spokesperson for East Dunbartonshire council told the publication that any such development will need to be considered first by councillors.
But Gladedale Central Scotland hopes to start work in 2009 to convert the existing 132-year-old building into apartments.
Land director at the firm Charles Church tells the publication: "The NHS put it up on the market for development and we thought it was an attractive area."
"We have a lot of experience in redeveloping this kind of hospital site," he adds.
The company already has plans for future development schemes in Dunfermline and a block of two and three-bedroom apartments in East Kilbride.
