The lack of affordable homes in Edinburgh is resulting in families being forced to leave the capital, one housing expert has warned.
Councillor Paul Edie has warned that a focus must be established on increasing affordable housing to protect the interests of this sector.
"All sorts of people cannot afford to live in this city - not only unemployed people, but people near the beginning of their career who are not earning very much, a lot of people in the public sector," he told the Edinburgh Evening News.
Meanwhile, housing charity Shelter has been attempting to gain the support of MSPs for the affordable housing cause.
Campaigning for 30,000 affordable homes to be built across Scotland, the group spent yesterday constructing a model house outside the Scottish parliament, The West Lothian Courier reports, asking members to sign bricks in demonstration of their support.
