A plan to regenerate an old pet food production site in Glasgow is making progress with the submission of a planning application, it has been reported.
The Barrhead site is hoped to be the location of 120 new homes, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.
The East Renfrewshire location has previously seen life as a Purina pet food manufacturing facility, but the plant closed in 2005 with 200 job losses, the Glasgow Evening Times reports.
Andrew Liddell, of Banks Developments, said: "The scheme will bring new employment opportunities and vibrancy to an area crying out for support."
"Gathering opinions and ideas for local residents is central to the regeneration proposal."
First-time buyers may be pleased to read the findings of a recent report by Glasgow University which found that East Renfrewshire has seen level prices over the last year, the Scotsman reports, although this followed several years of strong growth.
